What is the Criminology Board Exam?
The Criminologist Licensure examination is one of the 43 annual board exams conducted by the Philippine Regulatory Commission (PRC). This exam screens aspiring criminologists in the country based on the standards written in the Republic Act No. 11131 or the Philippine Criminology Profession Act of 2018.

What is the coverage of the Criminology Board Exam?

What is the passing rate for the Criminology Board Exam?
Ever wonder what grade to aim for to be a licensed criminologist? To pass the Criminology board exam, you’ll need to have a general average of at least 75% with no less than 60% in any subtest. If you make the overall cut but fail in a subject, you’ll need to retake only that given subtest and get an 80% rating to pass the exam.

What are the eligibility requirements of the Criminology Board Exam?
Are you eligible to take the exam? Based on the PRC memo for the Criminology Board Exam, applicants must be able to meet the following criteria.
- Filipino citizen/ foreign citizen whose country/state adheres to the Philippine practice of criminology;
- In good health and is of good moral character;
- A graduate of Bachelor of Science in Criminology;
- Has completed a refresher course certificate*;
- Has no criminal record which involves moral turpitude;
- Has complied with other requirements prescribed by the PRC.
*Only applicable for applicants who failed five (5) times prior to the exam
What are the application requirements of the Criminology Board Exam?
So you’re qualified to take the Criminology Board Exam! The next step in the process is to prepare the necessary documents for the exam. Here are the following requirements you need to proceed with your application:
- NSO/PSA Birth Certificate
- NSO/PSA Marriage Contract (for married female applicants)
- Transcript of Records with scanned picture and Remarks “For Board Examination Purposes”
- Valid NBI Clearance
- RTC Clearance
- Three (3) Certificate of Good Moral Character*
- Examination fee payment (Php 900)
*PRC only recognizes certificate from the following: Barangay Chairman, School Dean, Employer, and Parish Priest
When is the Criminology Board Exam scheduled?
Like most licensure tests, the Criminology Board Exam happens twice a year! This three-day test usually falls on June and November but can change depending on the schedule released by the PRC. How do you apply for the Criminology Board Exam?
Gone are the days when you have to wait in long lines and spend a whole day (or more) just to process your exam application. Thanks to online technology, you can now do it in the comfort of your own home! Just access the PRC’s Licensure Examination and Registration Information System (LERIS) portal and start your application!
Here’s a quick overview of your exam application process:
- Prepare all your requirements.
- Register and set up your LERIS account.
- Select the Criminologist Licensure Examination tab.
- Schedule an appointment with PRC.
- Choose your preferred payment method and pay for the exam fee.
- Print your application form.
- Proceed to the PRC on your appointment date and submit your requirements.
P.S. Please don’t forget your LERIS account after your boards. You’ll still need it for other PRC-related processes. Write your log-in credentials somewhere safe for easy reference!
Where can I check the Criminology Board Exam results?
Sure, the exam’s challenging and all. But have you ever tried waiting for exam results? (We know the feeling y’all!) Don’t worry too much, though. For the Criminology Board Exam, you’ll just have to wait around two weeks after the exam date before the results are released.
To check the results, just go to the PRC official website for the complete list of passers and top performing schools, or you can also check the online verification portal to view your exam status. Just type in your personal information and exam details!
If you’re taking the exam this year, you can expect the results on July 2, 2019 (Tuesday) for the June exam and January 8, 2020 (Wednesday) for the November-December exam.
