Everything You Need To Know About The Environmental Planners Board Exam

Environmental planners make sure construction projects comply with environmental regulations. These professionals help reduce the harmful impacts of development, facilitate environmental permitting, and write environmental reports and documents. Aspiring environmental planners will first have to pass the environmental planners board exam. 

What’s the Environmental Planners Board Exam?

The Environmental Planners  board exam is an annual licensure exam conducted by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). This exam qualifies hopeful environmental planners who will be responsible for approving environmental permits and sustainable development projects in the community.

 

Who are eligible to take the Environmental Planners Board Exam?

You are eligible to take the exam if you are:

  • A citizen of the Philippines
  • A foreign citizen who submits the following requirements:
    • Certificate of Live Birth
    • Marriage contract for married female applicants
    • College Diploma and Transcript of Records
    • Certificate of Equivalency issued by the CHED, in case the degree was obtained abroad
    • Certificate of Good Moral from any of the following: barangay, church, school, or employer. All documents issued/executed abroad shall be duly authenticated by the Philippine Embassy/ Consulate stationed in such foreign country, accompanied with the official English translation whenever applicable
  • A degree holder from a school, college, or university accredited by the Commission on Higher Education

Who can take the Environmental Planners Board Exam?

1. Bachelor’s degree holders* in:
– Environmental Planning
– Urban and Regional Planning
– City Planning
– Town and Country Planning and/or Human Settlements Planning, or its equivalent

* With two (2) years on-the-job training

2. Graduate Degree holders in:
– Environmental Planning
– Urban and Regional Planning
– City Planning
– Town and Country Planning and/or Human Settlements Planning

3. Post-Graduate Diploma holders* in:
– Environmental Planning
– Urban and Regional Planning
– City Planning
– Town and Country Planning and/or Human Settlements Planning

* With at least one (1) year on-the-job training

4. Bachelor’s Degree holders* in:
– Architecture
– Engineering
– Economics
– Public Administration
– Law
– Social Work and Community Development
– Sociology or other related disciplines acceptable to the Board

* With five (5) years of on-the-job training. Applicable only until June 21, 2018.
* The on-the-job training should be undertaken in an agency or organization involved in environmental planning functions or programs. 

5. Master’s or Doctorate Degree holders* in:
– Architecture
– Engineering
– Ecology
– Economics
– Geography
– Geology
– Social Science
– Environmental Management
– Natural Resources Planning, or other related disciplines acceptable to the Board

* With five (5) years of on-the-job training. Applicable only until June 21, 2018.
* The on-the-job training should be in an agency or organization involved in environmental planning functions or programs.

How can I apply for the Environmental Planners Board Exam?

Start your online application at the PRC Licensure Examination and Registration Information System (LERIS). If you haven’t accessed the website before, you can check out the PRC’s step-by-step guide online.

What are the application requirements of the Environmental Planners Board Exam?

Submit the following documents to the PRC office:

  • NSO / PSA Birth Certificate
  • NSO / PSA Marriage Contract (for married female applicants)
  • Transcript of Records with scanned picture and Remarks “For Board Examination Purposes” (First Timer & Repeater)
  • College Diploma
  • Valid NBI Clearance (First Timers & Repeaters)
  • Certificate of Good Moral Character from any of the following:
    1. Barangay
    2. School
    3. Church
    4. Employer
  • OJT certificate or in service training signed by the applicant’s immediate supervisor
  • 4 passport-size colored pictures with your complete name printed on the photo
  • Certificate of Professional Civil Service Eligibility (for government planners only)
  • Payment of P 900.00

How can foreign citizens apply for the licensure examination?

Foreign citizens should submit the requirements above and a copy of the relevant provision/s of the foreign law or international agreement on the reciprocity for the practice of environmental planning.

What is the coverage of the Environmental Planners Board Exam?

The two-day licensure examination covers the following subjects: Physical Planning (25%),  Social Planning (20%), Economic Planning (20%), Planning Law and Administration (20%), and Special Planning Studies (15%).

When is the Environmental Planners Board Exam?

Dates of Exam Place Opening of Online Processing Deadline of Filing
June 5 & 6, 2019;Wednesday  and Thursday Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legaspi, Lucena, Pagadian and Tacloban March 6, 2019 May 6, 2019

Where can I check the Environmental Planners Board Exam results?

The results of the Environmental Planning Licensure Exam is usually released 3 days after the exam. You can check the results at the PRC official website!
