What To Expect When You Study In Lewis University

Inclusive Filipino community

Lewis University is a medium-sized private university with around 7,500 undergraduate and graduate students (15% consisting of international students), and students from all around the world are studying at Lewis. The high percentage of international students makes Lewis a bustling university for diversity and culture.

Archie says: “There are numerous Filipino students studying and working in the university. Chicago is also a big community for Filipino immigrants and plenty of Filipino grocery stores, as well as Filipino restaurants like Tita Mia’s.”

First-rate student experience

On top of a vibrant international community, Lewis University boasts of an inclusive and first-rate student experience. They believe that your college experience should include activities and events where you can meet friends and make memories to last a lifetime. “Lewis University has a department dedicated to international students,” says Archi. “The office is called International Student and Global Scholar Services, and it provides personal, cultural, and academic advisement while assisting students to maintain their lawful status so that they may have an enriching and successful experience in Lewis University. The office also caters to international students to events that enable them to get involved and be informed on the happening on-campus and off-campus.”

But wait… there’s more! Lewis also has a special Office for Student Engagement and Multicultural Student Enrichment (SEMSE) that students can go to if they want to join a club (or start one) on campus. The office also provides support for organizational leadership, recruitment, and retention of members. So if ever you find yourself overwhelmed on which club to join (or how to start one), you can reach out to SEMSE!

Industry-standard training and career readiness as a Lewis graduate

At Lewis, you’re not only guided in your education, you’re also taken care of as a Lewis graduate with their career readiness and training services. Should you feel the need to practice an interview, you may do so with Lewis’ own professionals so you’re more confident in acing your job interviews.

For Archie, she has started an on-campus job as a Marketing Intern at a Chicago company and has benefited from the career services and guidance that Lewis offers its graduates. “Being involved with the student body and university events paved a path for me to build camaraderie with not just my peer students and their parents but also with its staff, faculty members, and alumni members. The university also offers career services such as professional help with their resumes and interview practices.”
