How would you describe your dream school? 

No one comes close to the level of excitement and pride than that of students cheering for their alma mater. There, we said it! From doing the school cheer, wearing the campus colors (read: complete from head to toe) to making their supports felt on social media. You just know ‘em when you see one. 

This 2019, Edukasyon.ph has continued to help more and more students find their dream school. And mind you, we’re far from done! As we wrap up this awesome year, let’s look back on the top schools in the Philippines that students looked for on our platform. Who knows, your next alma mater might be on the list! *crossed fingers*

Without further adieu, here are the top 10 most searched Philippine schools on Edukasyon.ph in 2019:

Top 10: University of Santo Tomas (UST)

Starting off our countdown with the oldest existing universitynot just in the Philippines—but in the whole of Asia! Aside from 400 years worth of rich cultural heritage, UST continues to make history in 2019 as it ran headlines for producing board topnotchers, and achieving the highest number of PAASCU accreditations in the country. All to say quality education is real in this school.

Top 9: Centro Escolar University- Manila (CEU Manila)

All eyes on CEU, students! If you’re an aspiring optometrist, this school got you covered. Established in 1907, CEU has established itself as a powerhouse for disciplines such as Optometry, Business Administration, and Teacher Education. All of which are degree programs recognized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as Centers of Development (CODs) and Center of Excellence (COE), respectively.

Top 8: AMA University Online Education (AMAU OEd)

Technology is breaking barriers in education. And so does AMAU OEd! This affiliate of the AMA Education System provides the first full online education program in the country. (Yup, you read that right!) 

Through partnerships with various institutions like the McGraw-Hill Education and International Council for Open and Distance Education to name a few, this online university brings school virtually to anyone, anywhere.

Top 7: University of Cebu- Main Campus (UC Main Campus)

We’re taking our countdown to the Queen City of the South! This year, you’ve been searching about UC Main Campus, too. One of the country’s largest privately-owned universities! We aren’t surprised though since UC has been nailing nursery to post-graduate education since 1964. 

Just in case you needed proof, UC dominated the Naval Board Exam last October 2019 with 8 out of 10 topnotchers in the list. #goals

Top 6: University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD)

Back to the streets of Metro Manila, we’ve got the country’s national university on your most-searched schools! Being one of eight UP constituent universities, UPD serves as the largest campus in terms of student population. There’s enough room for one more iskolar ng bayan! (read: that’s you)

True to its motto “Honor and Excellence,” UP got its highest rating in the prestigious QS World University Rankings. Jumping 28 spots from 384th last year to 356th in 2019!

Top 5: The University of Manila (UM)

Halfway through the list and we’ve got another university making its presence felt in the international community! Formerly known as the Instituto de Manila, this private university located in the heart of Sampaloc, Manila, offers an array of courses from the liberal arts to the law. More options for you!

UM also has partnerships with different Asian universities such as Tokai University of Tokyo, Japan, Hansung University of Seoul, South Korea, and Phuket Rajabhat University in Phuket, Thailand to name a few. 

P.S. UM was one of the original members of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). They soared high as the UM Hawks!

Top 4: Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU)

From NCAA to UAAP real quick! This year, the Ateneo also made it to your most searched schools. While ADMU is best known for its liberal arts and humanities, it also holds CHED COEs and CODs in various disciplines. Think biology, communication, and information technology! No wonder ADMU took the top spot among PH schools in the QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2020.  

Of course, we cannot not mention Ateneo’s #OneBigFight to the UAAP Season 82 championships this year! Congrats to the men’s basketball team, women’s badminton team, and men’s and women’s swimming team.

Top 3: University of Makati (UMak)

Landing on the third spot is… UMak, Makati City’s flagship university! What started out as a community college in 1972 grew to a full-fledged university offering SHS, undergraduate, and graduate courses. Did you know UMak was one of the first schools in the country to implement the K-12 curriculum?

Aside from paving the way for Makati’s education, UMak is also home to world-class athletes such as Jasmin Figueroa (Archery), Rachelle Cabral (Archery) and Ayssa Dalida (Squash) who represented PH in the World Olympics, SEA Games, and Asian Games. Goals!

Our runner-up for this year’s most searched schools goes to the tamaraws, FEU Manila! Aside from its competitive stints in the UAAP competitions, this university is also set to dominate in the academic arena. This year, FEU is consistently ranked in the top performing schools for licensure exams in Medicine and Medical Technology.

If blood and needles aren’t your thing, it’s okay. FEU Manila also got you covered in Teacher Education and Business Administration! Thanks to its CHED COE and COD accreditations in those disciplines, respectively.

Top 1: National University (NU)

Alright, raise your hand if you searched for National University this year! Because apparently, most of you did and we can see why. 

NU didn’t just surprised everyone with their jaw dropping performance in the 2019 UAAP Cheerdance Competition (read: 6th title in 7 years, you guys). It has also been opening its doors to more students all over the country—starting with a satellite campus in Calamba, Laguna which opened this S.Y. 2018-2019. Now, more Filipino youth can access NU’s brand of quality education.
