Do you often find yourself cramming for deadlines? Are you someone who cannot live without a planner in your bag? Often, proper time management for senior high school students is such a challenge. Tbh, we cannot control time. But we can manage our own behaviors.

Have you ever wondered why you’re not meeting your deadlines? Do you often complain there’s not enough time in a day to finish all your assignments? Here are some of the most common time management behaviors that may be affecting your productivity and what you can do about it:

The Firefighter

Reviewing your notes while running for your next class—you’re too busy doing every single task. For you, each activity is an important one that you need to accomplish right away. Every day is CODE RED that puts you on a constant panic mode.

What do you need to do?

Use a planner to know what your priorities are. Even having a simple to-do list can keep you on track. When you plan your schedule, make sure to allocate time for unexpected events. By using a to-do list, you’ll know what are the things that you need to accomplish first instead of stressing yourself with every task. Here’s how you can do more work in a day in less time.

The YES I CAN!

You’re probably the groupmate everyone wants. Why? Because you’re always game to do any task. Even if your schedule is already full, you just can’t say no to your beloved team.

What do you need to do?

While being proactive is not a bad trait, you should know how to set your boundaries. School and personal life balance are essential to your well being. Don’t wait until your energy runs out and affect your health. Sometimes, saying a simple no can be of great help. If you’re having troubles with prioritizing, here’s how you can get your priorities straight.

The Socializer

You’re a ray of sunshine for anyone you meet. With such a ball of energy, how can you ignore simple chat with your friends, right? If there’s one thing you’re best at, it would be keeping a lively conversation or updating your social media.

What do you need to do?

If you have a daily planner, it’s a good start. But what still keeps you from accomplishing your goals? It’s the interruptions. Focus on what’s on your list. Remember, academics and social life are two different spheres. When you’re working on an assignment, reviewing for a test, or focusing on a project, you should know that acad comes first. Here are some apps that can help you boost your productivityand stay away from your gadgets.

The Slacker

“Mamaya nalang.” You’ve probably risked your grades many times with this line. Those supposedly doable tasks that you decided to do “later” have already piled up. You haven’t even started that 10-page research paper assigned to you last month.

What do you need to do?

Too much of Netflix and chill can affect not just your academics today; If you continue with this habit, it can also pose a threat to your future career. It all starts with admitting to yourself that you do indeed procrastinate. Then find out what causes you this behavior. Once you identify the root of the problem, then you can start creating an action plan to solve it. Here are six easy steps on how you can beat procrastination.

The Perfectionist

You spend a lot of time getting yourself in the zone. For you, everything you do should be a masterpiece. You can’t rush art, right? For every output, it’s either go big or go home.

What do you need to do?

Striving for excellence is not a bad thing at all. However, setting incredibly high standards at the expense of your productivity can be a problem. When your perfectionism is already causing you anxiety, take a step back and try to see your end goal. After all, it’s better to finish your project and submit on time than fail because you submit the perfect project late. Here are other signs that you’re self-sabotaging and creating your own obstacles.

Do any of these personalities describe you? Hope this article can help you build positive time management habits in the future. Don’t worry, we’re here to help you every step of the way!
