The degree of Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering is a five-year course that aims to provide students with an extensive training in various aspects of specialization in Mining Engineering. Such training encompasses the different phases of the production of Mineral Resources; Prospecting and Exploration, Principles and Metallurgical Analysis, Mine Planning and Design, Mine Development and Production, Mine Economics, Underground and Surface Mining, Mine Ventilation, Mine Maintenance Technology and Management, Mine Safety, Environmental, Mine Surveying and the Mining Laws & Ethics;
It also includes conducting researches and studies in both the basic and applied aspects of the Mining and Mineral Processing Operations, develops consciousness on the role of Mining Engineers in the optimum extraction, utilization, conservation, protection, and management of the earth's natural resources.
The program also allows the students to choose elective subjects to enhance knowledge in specific areas. Fieldwork is given emphasis and the students are required to take the Mine and Mill Practice for two summer months in local Mining site, at the end of the training, an activity report is submitted as proof of the student's ability to prepare a technical report regarding Mining operations The program also allows the students to choose elective subjects to enhance knowledge in specific areas.
