Aklan Catholic College (ACC) is a private educational institution in the
municipality of Kalibo. The school formally opened in 1945 as the
Aklan College, with programs for elementary and for college students. In 1958, the College of Law was established, and this was followed by the Graduate School in 1964; Aklan College became
the first higher education institution to offer law and graduate programs. During a period of challenges, the school was aided by the Catholic Church; and, with the integration of religion classes in its programs, the college eventually became a Catholic institution.
ACC currently has four academic units providing higher education programs—
Nursing, Information and Computer Studies, Business Education, Teacher Education, Law, and
Graduate Studies. It also offers a complete basic education program that includes curricula for
Special Education (SPED) and for
Senior High School (SHS). SHS students can choose from selected strands under the
Academic and the
Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) tracks. Additionally, the college is a
TESDA Accredited Training and Assessment Center with various courses in the areas of Hotel and Restaurant Services, Healthcare Services, and English Language Proficiency.
