What does Aquinas University of Legazpi stand for?


Aquinas University of Legazpi (AUL) is a Catholic, higher education institution in Legazpi, Albay founded in 1948 by Don Buenaventura de Erquiaga as the Legazpi Junior Colleges. Currently, the school is known as the University of Santo Tomas–Legazpi (UST–Legazpi).
 
In 1965, Legazpi College became a Dominican institution. As the school's population increased, the College had to acquire a 32-hectares of land to accommodate elementary, secondary, vocational tertiary, and graduate study programs. The institution was elevated to its university status in 1968 and was renamed as Aquinas University.

UST - Legazpi envisions itself to become the best leading Christ-centered academic institution with dedicated and committed educators that will nurture and transform their students to pursue academic excellence and professional values that would help and transform one’s moral integrity towards local and global challenges in life.
 
The University of Santo Tomas - Legazpi offers General Curriculum and Special Program in College of Arts and Sciences, Education, Business Management and Accountancy, Engineering Architecture, Medical Technology, and Law. The school also has a Graduate School and the Center for Continuing Education. As a Catholic academic institution, the school provides opportunity to underprivileged but deserving students through its scholarship grants.
 
At present, it takes pride in its recent achievements including a Level II accreditation from the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges, and Universities (PAASCU).
