Course Description

This course has been developed in response to an industry need for more counselling skills in the nursing profession. Studying counselling combined with nursing will provide nursing graduates with both the qualification of a Registered Nurse, and the counselling skills necessary to better support the provision of holistic care. Given the vulnerability of the population among which many nursing graduates will practice, and global political instability and its resultant refugee crisis, graduates with both nursing and counselling skills will be well placed to meet existing and future industry needs. Students will be allocated a four-week palliative care placement during one of the nursing practicums – which will facilitate student counselling experience in a practice setting. Program graduates can pursue a range of careers as a registered nurse with counselling skills within the health care industry from clinical practice across a range of specialties, through to research, education and management. Graduates may also pursue employment opportunities in a range of counselling and human service careers. "For more information, please check out their official website here:
