Batangas State University (also known as BSU and BatStateU) was established in 1903 as the Manual Training School. It was renamed in 1905 as the all-male Batangas Trade School before becoming co-ed in 1948, under the Rehabilitation Act of 1946. In 2001, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo raised the school to its present title as the Batangas State University.

With 10 campuses located all over the province of Batangas, BSU envisions itself as a globally recognized institution of higher learning by providing a holistic outlook on the development of the new generation into productive citizens. BSU specializes in Mechanical Engineering. Six of its programs were accredited by a US-based Accrediting Agency for Engineering. In addition to this, the university also has an Integrated School which offers both pre-elementary, elementary and secondary school.
