Bato Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) is a private higher educational institution in
dd. It was established in 1995 as the Bato Maritime Institute by Capt. Ernesto S. Germano, who wanted to provide maritime educational opportunities for the underprivileged students in Bato. It was officially registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission in 1996 and is
the first college in the municipality. In just a couple of years, the school offered additional courses aside from those under maritime education, so it was eventually renamed to Bato Institute of Science and Technology.
At present, BIST provides basic education and higher education programs. It has a Senior High School (SHS) department offering selected strands from the
Academic and the
Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) strands. Its college department, on the other hand, has available CHED-recognized undergraduate programs in
Business Administration, Elementary Education, and
Hospitality Management. Additionally, the institute is a
TESDA Accredited Assessment and Training Center, offering several tech-voc courses for students interested in earning their
National Certificate (NC).
