Bohol Island State University (BISU) is a state university system located in
Bohol, established in 2009 through the Republic Act 9722 signed by former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Under the said law, Central Visayas State College of Agriculture, Forestry, and Technology (CVSCAFT) and five other technical-vocational schools in the province will be merged to form the current BISU. The university’s main campus is situated in
Tagbilaran City. While the other satellite campuses are located in the municipalities of
Candijay, Bilar, Calape, Balilihan, and
Clarin.
This academic institution offers a wide variety of courses for students from all over the Visayas region. Undergraduate and graduate programs in
Education, Agriculture, Fisheries, Engineering, Arts and Sciences, Accountancy, Business, and Technology are readily available to individuals who want to pursue their education in the university. Also offered is a
senior high school program featuring
Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) strands. BISU, and its program offerings are duly recognized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the Department of Education (DepEd), and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
