What does Brokenshire College stand for?

Brokenshire College is a private, Evangelical Christian educational institution in Davao City. It was established in 1954 and was named after Dr. Herbert Brokenshire, an American physician and missionary who served in Davao until the outbreak of the Second World War. The school was formerly known as Brokenshire School of Nursing. When it started offering Liberal Arts programs in 1978, it was renamed to Brokenshire College. 

Brokenshire College offers undergraduate and graduate programs under the following departments: Arts and Sciences, Nursing and Allied Health, Business and Management, and Medicine. The school also provides the K-12 basic education program. It has a Child Development Center for its early childhood education program, and its Senior High School department offers the Academic and the Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) tracks.

Brokenshire College is affiliated with the United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP).  The school aims to develop the character of its learners and transform them into individuals who are spiritually mature and socially responsible. Guided by the motto Fides et Servitium, Latin for “faith and service,” the school continues to provide quality Christian education in Davao. In fact, the Association of Christian Schools and Colleges-Accrediting Agency Inc. (ACSCU-AAI) has accredited the school's Education, Arts and Sciences, and Nursing programs.

• In 2014, Brokenshire College was featured on TV networks and websites because of an inspiring story. A father named Arsenio Atienza graduated together with his son Omar who is diagnosed with autism. Arsenio enrolled in the program to guide his son with his studies. Both graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology.
