Be your own boss

Discover how to run your own business and successfully manage your finances. In this double major you’ll study the relationship between people and organisations, and develop skills in problem solving, planning, organising and managing change. You’ll gain an understanding of the foundations of business to develop your skills, knowledge and expertise in managing and growing an entrepreneurial venture.

In accounting you’ll be introduced to accounting principles, auditing, taxation and relevant areas of business law and financial management. You’ll examine the recording and communication of information relating to the financial performance of organisations. You’ll learn to prepare reports and give advice on an organisation’s record-keeping and compliance requirements, ensuring you are ready for a successful career in any sector.

During your first year of the Bachelor of Commerce you’ll complete common core units which will provide an introduction to the various aspects of business. You do not need to make a final decision on a single or combined major until your second semester.
 

High achieving students may complete an additional honours year enabling them to undertake their own significant research project.
