This major will appeal to creative, motivated people with a keen interest in fashion and a passion for contemporary design.

In this major you will focus on the relationship between garment and body, using a theoretical and contextual framework for understanding national and international trends and the cultural significance and practice of fashion design. 

You will learn the principles of design and creative practice and develop skills in fabric manipulation and construction, design, pattern making, styling and fashion illustration. 

You will also have access to specialist equipment including a Shima Seiki knitting machine, full body digital scanner and Gerber Plotter and Digitizer. 

This major encourages an innovative approach to design, technical competencies and industry expertise. The skills, knowledge and contacts you gain will prepare you for a range of career opportunities within the fashion industry.

The fashion major can open up diverse opportunities for graduates in key international industries.

Final year students showcase their work at a spectacular fashion event at the end of the academic year.

Fashion is offered as part of the Bachelor of Arts. You can enhance your studies with a secondary major or choose from a range of elective units to support your career goals.
