You can strive to help women have a healthy pregnancy and a satisfying birth experience.
This course emphasises the close integration of evidence-based theory and clinical practice. The theory content is comprehensive and includes physical, biological, psychological and social sciences.
You can gain clinical experience in a wide range of community and hospital settings, and will have opportunities for interprofessional learning across the duration of the course.
The clinical placements are coordinated with theory, and progress from simulation and observation visits to longer periods in maternity care settings. You’ll be involved in caring for women, babies and their families in supervised practice, appropriate to your academic level and experience.
You will also be required to recruit 10 pregnant women, over the three years of the course, to follow their pregnancy, birth and postnatal journey which will involve an on-call component.
Please note that student placements include night duty, weekends and may take place during semester break.
Because you will commence clinical placement in first semester it is important to start the process for health and legal checks as soon as you accept your place in this program. More information can be found here.
