The Professional Writing and Publishing major is one of five in the Master of Arts course. The course teaches you the genres and conventions of professional communication (such as copywriting) and creative non-fiction writing.
As part of this major you’ll learn to convey information and debate with colleagues, clients, constituents and stakeholders. You’ll be taught research, writing, editing and publishing skills, giving you the knowledge to contribute to public discussions, create persuasive narratives supported by your understanding of ethics and hold your own in a professional workplace writing team. Participants are encouraged to apply and test these skills and understanding through applied practice in the form of an advanced discipline project and a professionally-orientated placement.
In your first year you will undertake introductory units, develop your skills in your chosen discipline and prepare for your major project. In your second year you will complete your major project and have an opportunity for internship within a relevant industry upon meeting required conditions.
