Brief Overview of the Program
The MPQM Major in Microfinance Batch program is a 16-month interdisciplinary course. The course framework is based on the Baldrige framework, an excellence-driven model which provides a holistic framework that allows organizations assess how well they deal with or manage stakeholder-driven operating environments. Through this they can know their areas of strengths, identify areas and opportunities for improvement, and generate ideas for future organizational development.
The framework is comprised of the following criteria: leadership, strategic planning, customer focus, measurement, analysis, and knowledge management, workforce focus (human resource), operations focus (process management), and results. By considering the aforementioned criteria, an organization's delivery value to their stakeholders as well as their overall effectiveness will improve and contribute largely to the organization's sustainability.
The course furthermore exposes students to various levels and dimensions of organizational life, the bureaucratic machinery and its workings, as well as development projects through lectures, case studies, and actual field and agency exposure sessions. Students of the course will be able to observe, learn and share from best practices and have a chance to apply the optimum skills that will enable them to apply effective and contextually sensitive principles and skills in leading and managing their areas towards maximum performance and articulate a developmental conception in the context of Philippine social realities.
