Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) is a public university in
Bacnotan, La Union. The university was established in 1969 by then President Ferdinand Marcos through the passing of
P.D. 1778. With this decree, five schools in La Union were merged together in order to create the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University system.
The DMMMSU is situated in a 1,120-hectare land and has 3 major campuses;
North La Union (Bacnotan and Balaoan towns),
Mid La Union (San Fernando) and the
South La Union (Agoo, Sto. Tomas, and Rosario towns) which are all located within the province.The university also operates an
Open University system which is located in the city of San Fernando, La Union.
The main campus in North La Union is composed of four (4) colleges, three (3) institutes, and one (1) graduate school. Its undergraduate programs include courses in E
ducation, Agriculture, Arts and Sciences, Environmental Studies, Veterinary Medicine, Agroforestry and Watershed Management, and
Information Systems. And being an agricultural area, the graduate school programs in the campus are mostly composed of graduate and post-graduate studies in
Agriculture.
