Father Saturnino Urios University (FSUU) is a private Catholic institution founded in 1901 by Spanish missionary Reverend Father Saturnino Urios, S.J. as an all-boys school named Butuan Parochial School. In 1950, a college department was established thus renaming the school as Father Urios College. And in 2006, it officially achieved university status. FSUU is currently directed by the Diocese of Butuan.
At present, FSUU offers undergraduate and graduate programs in
Accountancy, Education, Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Law, Criminology, Arts and Sciences, and Nursing. The university also has a Senior High School program featuring the
Sports,
Academic, and
Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) Tracks.
As it stays dedicated to its mission of empowering students, FSUU continues to break grounds and receive recognitions from various institutions. The school and its programs are accredited by the Department of Education (DepEd), Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) and the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU). It is also an official member of the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP).
