Yes. But these two additional years will equip you with skills that will better prepare you for the future, whether it be; Kolehiyo, Trabaho or Negosyo!
The Manila-Laguna-Batangas (MLB) Research and Innovation Consortium is seeing action at the 16th Philippine Semiconductor and Electronics Convention and Exhibition (PSECE) from 31 May-01 June 2019 at the SMX Convention Center, Manila, Philippines.
PSECE is the biggest annual electronics industry event produced and organized by the Semiconductor and Electronics Industries in the Philippines Foundation, Inc. (SEIPI). This year more than 200 Foreign and Filipino electronics and supply chain companies are expected to exhibit at the show. In line with this year's theme: “Enhancing the Role of the Semiconductor and Electronics Industry in Nation-Building”, the participation of the consortium highlights the importance of industry-academe linkages for the further development of the country's electronics industry.
At this year's PSECE the six schools of the MLB consortium—Asia Pacific College, University of Perpetual Help System-Biñan, University of the Philippines-Los Baños, FAITH Colleges, Batangas State University, and Lyceum of the Philippines-Laguna—will be presenting innovative projects and engaging with industry players to collaborate on the development of the country's talent pool. The schools of MLB are recognized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as Centers of Excellence (COE) and Development (COD) in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and are poised to lead in research and instruction in these fields that continue to be critical for the continued competitiveness of Filipino engineers and electronics companies.
About the MLB Research and Innovation Consortium and Corridor
The corridor, which extends from the Magallanes Interchage in Makati, passes thru Laguna, reaching all the way to Batangas City via the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and Southern Tagalog Arterial Road Tollway (STAR Tollway). The region is a hub for the electronics manufacturing industry, along which hundreds of electronics companies are located, and contributes more than 50% of the total Philippine exports annually. Situated along the same route are the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the 6 HEIs recognized as COEs and CODs in STEM fields. With a high concentration of both industrial and academic activity, the MLB Research and Innovation Corridor bears much similarity to other regions in the world like Silicon Valley and the North Caro
FAITH Colleges and Fastech Synergy Philippines Inc together with the Semiconductor & Electronics Industries in the Philippines Foundation Inc. (SEIPI) are co-organizing this year’s Green ICT Forum in conjunction with the Philippine Semiconductor and Electronics Convention and Exhibition (PSECE) on 01 June 2019 at the SMX Convention Center, Manila, Philippines.
With the theme “Green ICT and R&D for National Progress,” the event provides a platform for comprehensive discussion on the sustainable use, manufacturing, and development of Information and Communication Technology (or Green ICT). With technology and electronics playing an increasingly significant role across the world, the forum’s ultimate goal is to promote a mindset of sustainability for ICT.
The summit discussion will focus on: The Future of Manufacturing Technologies: Industry-driven Concept; Society 5.0; Industry 4.0; Practical Approach to Smart Factory; Green Power; Decentralized Energy Generation using Next Generation Solar Systems; and Sustainability and Green Initiatives of Analog Devices.
This year’s international lineup of resource persons include: Osamu Namikawa (並河 治), Sr. Manager for Environmental Affairs from the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA); Berthold Arweiler, Head of AIT MA Smart Factory from Continental Temic; Rhett V. Ramos, Asia IT Director from Allegro MicroSystems Philippines, Inc; Olaf Gresens, President of Merlin Solar Technologies, Inc.; Carlos Lorenzo L. Vega, Vice President for Power Marketing and Trading from First Gen Corporation; Florence Galindo, EH&S Manager from Analog Devices Philippines; Saturnino G. Belen, Jr., President of FAITH Colleges; and Dr. Danilo Lachica, President of SEIPI.
FAITH Colleges, an institution of higher learning and research in the Philippines and the academic partner of Fastech, continues to promote research and development into Green ICT in the Manila-Laguna-Batangas (MLB) Research and Innovation Consortium.
Fastech, a leading Philippine semiconductor manufacturing company, is recognized for its leading-edge know-how in niche IC semiconductor components and RF/microwave modules. With the industry and electronics moving toward more power efficient chips and components, Fastech has positioned itself to provide a broad portfolio of Si (Silicon), SiC (Silicon Carbide) and GaN (gallium nitride) based devices. In recent years, SiC- and GaN-based semiconductors called the "Next Generation Power Semiconductors" are two semiconductor materials seeing widespread use in power supplies, solar inverters and industrial motor drives. They are also called green devices because they reduce power consumption and carbon dioxide emissions tremendously.
ICT Green Forum 2019 is made possible with the support of our sponsors: Continental, Omniversal Assurance Agency Corp. (OVAA), Firstec Metallics Inc., IXL Lima Group Security Inc., and Lima Park Hotel.
Dione Mae Umalla is graduating at the top of Class 2019, the fifth woman to graduate as class valedictorian in an otherwise male-dominated Philippine Military Academy since 1995, when the PMA first accepted women cadets.
Umalla is a FAITH Colleges scholar enrolled in Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Math S.Y. 2013 - 2015 before she decided to join the PMA.
