What does Holy Angel University stand for?

Holy Angel University (HAU) is the first Catholic co-educational and lay-founded school in the Philippines. It was established in June 1933 by the late Don Juan D. Nepomuceno and Fr. Pedro P. Santos. The school gained its university status on December 6, 1981. The only campus is located in Angeles, Pampanga. HAU’s mission is to shape students into individuals of conscience, competence, and compassion by providing quality education for the greater glory of God. The university envisions to become a role model that bring about change and development, “as well as one of the most influential, best-managed Catholic universities in the Asia-Pacific region.”

Holy Angel University offers senior high school Academic tracks: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), ABM (Accountancy, Business, and Management), HUMSS (Humanities and Social Sciences), and GAS (General Academic Strand). It also presents a Tech-Voc Livelihood track: HE (Home Economics). 

Undergraduate programs are divided into eight (8) college departments: School of Arts & Sciences, School of Business & Accountancy, School of Education, School of Engineering and Architecture, School of Nursing and Allied Medical Sciences, School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, the College of Information and Communications Technology, and the Criminal Justice Education and Forensics department. HAU, however, specializes in the field of Business. The university has been accredited by the International Assembly Collegiate Business Education. 

Acknowledged as one of the top universities in the Philippines for their academic excellence, HAU’s Autonomous Status has been awarded by the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd). The university also has a Level I recognized status for its Elementary School and candidate status for its Graduate school.

Lastly, Holy Angel University has acquired a Level II status for its Accountancy, Arts & Sciences, Business Administration, Education, Engineering, Hospitality Management and High School programs from the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU).

Holy Angel University Facts:

  • On 2016, HAU ranked 1st in Central Luzon based on the passing rates for universities with at least 15 board exams
  • In the September 2017 board exam for Mechanical Engineering, HAU ranked 6th on the top performing school nationwide
  • All undergraduate students of Holy Angel University are required to take 12 units of Catholic Theology classes as being a part of a Roman Catholic institution.
