Lanao Agricultural College (LAC) is a private school in
Lumbatan, Lanao del Sur. It was established in 1910 as the
Lumbatan Farm School by an American educator. The school was renamed to Lumbatan Agricultural School a few years later by another American educator, and it has been under American administrators for a couple of decades. It was relocated a number of times during the Second World War, but it returned to its original site in Lumbatan due to the demand of education in the area. After the war, the school became the Lumbatan Junior High School and then became the
Lanao Agricultural School in 1953 by virtue of the RA 3650. It was in 1965 when the agricultural school earned its college status and became the Lanao Agricultural College.
At present, LAC offers programs in junior high school, senior high school, college, and graduate school. Its SHS department has the
General Academic (GAS), Agri-Fishery Arts (AFA), Home Economics (HE), and
Industrial Arts (IA) strands. The college department, on the other hand, provides degree courses in
Teacher Education and
Agriculture. For those who wish to pursue further studies, the college has a
master's program in Educational Management. A
Certificate of Professional Educational Program is also available for non-education graduates who need to earn units for the Licensure Exam for Teachers.
