Overview

Translators and interpreters are proficient bilinguals with a love of language. Those with a background in international relations have a deep understanding of the forces that not only influence relations, but also communications, between the major players in the international system. Specialists with skills in both international relations and translating and interpreting are highly valued across the globe.

This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge you'll need to perform as a competent professional translator and interpreter in a range of institutional settings, which are common to community and commercial translating and interpreting practice in Australia and overseas. It will also equip you with the skills to mediate internationally in a variety of settings.

Graduates will demonstrate advanced translating and interpreting skills and will be well prepared to pursue a career as professional translator and interpreter particularly in a public or private organisation which has a strong international focus.

Our working languages for practical units are Chinese (Mandarin), Korean, Japanese, Spanish, and other languages depending on demand.
