Manila Central University (MCU) continues to uplift young minds as it commits itself to the progress of its students in terms of knowledge, skills, and talents. Started as a private review session in 1903 for pharmacy board examination applicants, it grew into a renowned university which produces outstanding results of board examinations in different courses. With prudence, perseverance, resiliency, integrity, nurturing, and teamwork as its core values, the institution strives to serve as a stepping stone for young learners to become competent professionals who contribute to the growth of society.
MCU is located in the heart of
Caloocan City, Metro Manila. It is known to be a pillar which strengthens the health science profession aspirants in the future by enhancing their capabilities with comprehensive education, technology-based teaching, and research.
On its 106th founding anniversary on December 2, 2010, the Filemon D. Tanchoco – Learning Resource Center (LRC) was established as the center of information, communication, research, and student services to the university.
The University has eleven (11) colleges and a graduate school for doctoral as well as master’s program and a
basic education curriculum with
senior high school. It offers courses in
Optometry, Dentistry, Medical Technology, Computer Studies, Medicine, Physical Therapy, Nursing, Arts and Sciences. Moreover, MCU is acknowledged for its quality performance in board examinations since 2009.

The
Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) recognized the MCU
College of Nursing as the
4th Top Performing Nursing School in the country in 2009 while the
College of Optometry was ranked by the PRC as the
country’s Top Performing Optometry School in 2013 and 2014.
Manila Central University Facts:
- In 2004 which marked their centennial anniversary, the University saw it as an opportunity to undergo organizational restructuring.
- MCU began adapting its computerized enrollment system in 2013 with online enrollment and computerized, accounting, and Human Resources systems. Also, the Basic Education classrooms were installed with air conditioned units, and the entire campus road network was restored and improved.
- During their 110th founding anniversary on August 8, 2014, the Purple Owl Complex which houses multiple new facilities such as the 3-storey Zurbaran Hall, the on-campus dormitory for students, and the University Canteen was established.
- The campus has a statue of Minerva, the Roman goddess of wisdom.
