CHED ACCREDITATION: G.R. 051, Series of 2015
PROGRAM HEAD: Reuben Ravago
The Information Technology (IT) program is geared towards educating a capable and well founded IT software specialist with a technology stack that will allow one to be competitive in the growing market of IT practitioners. This course will adapt the latest methodologies in app development in the digital space. Through a select combination of programming languages, protocols, and tools the students will be developing cross-platform apps and services that will be deployed on desktop and mobile devices.
IT Students will be given actual experiences in developing and launching apps into both the Apple AppStore and Google Play. For IT Students, this serves as a launch pad for being able to deliver applications to the widest possible range of audiences and industries. All aspects of life and business today are already being permeated by technology. The IT student will have a strong focus on understanding an end-user need and being able to deliver that in a usable user interface (UI) delivering an effective user experience (UX). They are a front-end complement for the CS student.
The course will immerse the IT student in the principles of community and collaboration. The community will be the group of computer science practitioners working together and sharing their skills to solve programming problems. This is reflective of product teams that build the latest software today and also of the various social networks of computer science practitioners that are ready to answer technical questions and share their experiences. The collaboration will be the expanded interaction that IT students will have with the students from the Arts and Business tracks of MINT college. This is meant to expand their aptitude in working with professionals with complementary skills. Embracing these two principles will give IT students an edge in the workplace as well as in tech entrepreneurship.
