What does Mindanao State University - General Santos City stand for?

Mindanao State University (MSU-IIT) Iligan is one of the schools under the Mindanao State University. The first campus was established in 1968 in Marawi following the Republic Act (RA) 5363. The other campuses are located in Maguindanao, Sulu, Buug, Tawi-Tawi, Naawan, Gensan, Maigo, Lopez Jaena, LNAC, and LNCAT.

MSU offers a wide range of bachelor degrees and graduate programs. The university specializes in development programs like agriculture, public affairs, and education. It is also a center for Islamic Studies under the King Faisal Center for Islamic, Arabic and Asian Studies. Furthermore, MSU offers a Bachelor of Laws degree under its College of Law, a Doctor of Medicine program through the College of Medicine, and several Master's Degrees under different expertise. The university also has a basic education program for elementary, junior, and senior high school. Vocational and technology certificate programs are also available for Agriculture, Environmental Studies, and Engineering Technology among others.

Mindanao State University has been declared as a Regional Science Training Center and as the Regional Carabao Center. It has also been honored as a Center of Excellence in Teacher Education, Chemistry and Information Technology. It is also a center of research and extension services catering to a wide field of studies covering the region.
