In this course, previously called Cyber Forensics and Information Security, you’ll learn how to identify, mitigate and prevent cyber security threats and respond to security incidents for government agencies and corporate organisations. You’ll also develop strong analytical and critical thinking skills and learn how to forensically examine digital evidence to solve computer crimes.
The course will provide you a solid foundation of the theoretical and practical aspects of the different dimensions of cyber security, such as network security, software security, system security measures and models, information security, computer forensics, penetration testing and vulnerability assessment, risk and project management and knowledge of relevant standards and regulatory requirements.
As part of your studies, you’ll gain practical experience through research and professional projects and optional industry work placements. You'll also have the opportunity to engage with industry and the community on current issues.
To expand your expertise even further you can combine Cyber Security and Forensics with another major, such as Computer Science, Business Information Systems or Internetworking and Network Security.
This course is accredited at the Professional level with the Australian Computer Society (ACS). When you graduate, you could pursue a career as a cyber security architect or analyst, security auditor, security engineer, security software developer, cyber forensic investigator or auditor, security consultant, systems administrator or even work as an ethical hacker / penetration tester.
