What does NAMEI Polytechnic Institute stand for?

NAMEI Polytechnic Institute is a private educational institution established as Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Institute (NAMEI) in 1947 by naval architect and marine engineer Felix B. Padilla.

Padilla, a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), built NAMEI with a desire to train his fellow countrymen and develop them into skilled nation-builders by providing accessible, high-quality Maritime Education.

NAMEI Polytechnic Institute is located in Mandaluyong City. The school offers a K-12 education program as well as undergraduate degrees in marine engineering and naval architecture. There’s also a 5-year course that combines and tackles the two fields. Another exclusive course offering is a degree in marine transportation which is ideal for students who aspire to become future merchant marine officers.

Its senior high school (SHS) program offers three (3) tracks----General Academic Strand (GAS), Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

The institution is accredited by various organizations in the country. NAMEI and its undergraduate programs are recognized by Commission on Higher Education (CHEd). Its K-12 program, on the other hand, is accredited by the Department of Education (DepEd). NAMEI is also a member of the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities (PACU) and one of the higher education institutions authorized by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) to offer maritime education programs.

Up to this day, NAMEI Polytechnic Institute continues Felix B. Padilla’s legacy by fulfilling his dream of helping Filipino students and forming into competent professionals in the field of Maritime Engineering and Naval Architecture. The institution has also been continuously producing graduates that thrive in the naval architect and marine engineer board examinations.
