Notre Dame University (NDU) is a private Catholic university in the
City of Cagayan, Maguindanao. It was founded in 1948 as the
Notre Dame College (NDC) by the
Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI). The college initially conducted classes in the Notre Dame of Cotabato Girls Department Building and offered programs in Liberal Arts, Commerce, and Elementary Education. It was the next year, in 1949, when it had it obtained its own building beside the Cathedral and Notre Dame Press. As years passed, NDC provided more programs, like law, elementary and secondary education, engineering, and nursing. In 1969, the school earned its university status.
The university has eight academic units offering
undergraduate and graduate programs, covering areas of
Teacher Education, Business, Accountancy, Engineering, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Health Sciences, Computer Science, and
Law. A lot of these programs are also accredited by
PAASCU, with the Business, MBA, MPA, MAEd, Elementary and Secondary Education, and Liberal Arts having Level III statuses. NDU is also a K-12 ready institution, with a Senior High School (SHS) department providing various strands under the
Academic,
Arts and Design,
Sports, and
Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) tracks.
