What does Palawan State University stand for?

Palawan State University (PSU) started as a teaching-training institution then known as Palawan Teacher’s College. It was founded on June 19, 1965 and officially operated on March 2, 1972. It received university status on November 12, 1994.  PSU has two major campuses. The main campus is Tiniguiban Heights and the other is the Manalo Campus. The university's College of Community Resources and Development also offers short training courses in several sites in the island. PSU has many national and international partnerships in research and extension programs with a focus on environmental sustainability initiatives through which it pursues to produce education that highly values sustainable development. 

The Puerto Princesa City campus has eight colleges offering: Arts and Humanities, Business & Accountancy, Hospitality Management and Tourism, Nursing and Health Sciences, Teacher Education, Engineering, Architecture, and Technology, Criminal Justice Education, and College of Sciences. PSU also offers Academic, Arts & Design, Sports, and TVL tracks in Senior High School.

PSU holds a Center of Excellence for its Teacher Education and has a Laboratory School in the College of Teacher Education, offering Elementary Education. In 2013, PSU and the Provincial government of Palawan established an agreement to build a Graduate School of Medical studies and for training of Medical Doctors. This is in line with the construction of a district hospital within the PSU campus.
