What does Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa stand for?

Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa (PLMun) is a university run by the local government of Muntinlupa City.

In 1991, the passing of Resolution No. 91-191 and Resolution No. 91-192 which suggested the creation of a local government-run college paved the way for establishing the Muntinlupa Polytechnic College (MPC). The college was first located in Alabang, Muntinlupa and utilized one of the buildings of the Pedro E. Diaz High School.

When the number of students started to increase, MPC was later moved to Contessa Building in Barangay Poblacion. The school also established ties with the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd).

In 1995, MPC’s population continued to grow and thus required further changes. Years later, the college moved to a larger campus. The new MPC got a two-storey building that was erected in a 2-hectare lot located in the NBP Reservation Compound (also part of Barangay Poblacion).

By 2003, the Muntinlupa Polytechnic College was converted into Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa (PLMun) and has gained university status after a city ordinance suggesting its conversion was passed.

In 2006, an order recognizing the university as a “research and human resource development institution” was executed. In addition to being considered as a research center that can make room for innovation, PLMun is also awarded with an ISO Certification and recognized by CHED as a leading Higher Educational Institution (HEI).

The university currently offers courses ranging from Criminal Justice up to Information Technology. Masters degrees related to the fields of Business Administration, Education, and Correctional Administration are also offered. In addition to having quality programs, PLMun also provides scholarships to deserving students who graduated from Muntinlupa-based public high schools.

PLMun aims to provide quality education for the citizens of Muntinlupa and to produce globally competitive, responsible graduates who are willing to give back. The school also values righteousness and excellence.
