Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU), formerly Pampanga Agricultural College (PAC), is a state university occupying a 500-hectare agricultural land in Magalang, Pampanga. The institution traces back its roots to Estacion Pecuaria, an agricultural experiment station established in 1885. From the station, it was renamed as Magalang Farm School.
Since its establishment, the school continued expanding its programs, adding new courses aside from agriculture. It also has undergone several changes in its name and status until 2013, when it was elevated into its university status by virtue of Republic Act No. 10605 signed by the former president, Benigno S. Aquino III.
The Pampanga State Agricultural University is known for its programs in the field of Research and Development, Science and Technology, Agroecology, Industrial, and Business Entrepreneurship. It envisions itself to be a center of academic excellence in the province of Central Luzon and in the country.
At present, the university is composed of six departments which are the Colleges of Agricultural Systems and Technology, the Resource Engineering, Automation and Mechanization, Veterinary Medicine, Arts and Sciences, Education, and Hospitality, Entrepreneurship, and Food Sciences.
The university offers various undergraduate courses and operates a graduate school for three masters and two doctoral degrees. It also has a Senior High School program featuring Academic and Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) strands. The school as well as these programs are recognized by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges & Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd).
Pampanga State Agricultural University received local and international awards for its research and development programs. Aside from its comprehensive curriculum, the university is also known for its agricultural products such as the Aglibut sweet tamarind which is the only patented sweet tamarind variety in the country.
