Formerly known as Philippine Maritime Institute, PMI Colleges was established in September 1948 as a co-educational institution for maritime students. Starting with only 19 students, PMI Colleges is now one of the largest and oldest nautical schools in the country.

As a premier institution in the maritime field, PMI holds bachelor courses on in marine transportation and marine engineering. The school is also a pioneer of customs administration and offers a graduate degree on this field. PMI Colleges also provides a seafarer’s rating course. It is one of the first maritime schools to have their own naval training ship that they named after their founder, Tomas Cloma.

PMI Colleges has a long list of continuing excellence in licensure exams in the fields of customs, marine engineering, and marine transportation. The school is also an ISO 9001:2000 Certified.
