What does Quezon City Polytechnic University stand for?

The Quezon City Polytechnic University was established on March 1, 1994 as a learning institution for training technicians and skilled workers in Quezon City.   Its initial offering was a three-year Technician Curriculum on Automotive Technology, Electrical Technology, Welding Technology, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Technology, and Fashion Technology. Later on, additional programs were added, including Electronics Technology, Mechanical Technology or Machine Shop, Computer Technology, and an industry-led pilot course in Boiler Technology. Because of their continuous efforts, QCPU earned its University status in 2001.

The university now offers vocational and short courses which are accredited by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). The university now offers 4 full degree programs and 8 technical-vocational courses under a ladderized program of higher education. They offer Bachelor degrees in Information Technology, Entrepreneurship, Industrial Engineering, and Electronic and Communications Engineering. The institution also offers scheduled short-term courses for students who cannot study full time.

The school aims to provide a “show window and model technology-based” form of education through the continued partnership with TESDA and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The university believes that “that every person should have the opportunity for education and training commensurate with his abilities”.
