Saint Joseph Institute of Technology (SJIT) is a private school along
Montilla Boulevard, Butuan City. It was founded by
Dr. Nicomedes Salas in 1971 as a technical-vocational institution. From holding classes for 130 students in a two-story building, the school expanded to having five- to six-story buildings catering to thousands of students. Basic and higher education programs also opened later on; at present, SJIT provides programs from the preschool to the post-graduate level.
SJIT offers undergraduate courses under six departments:
Arts and Sciences; Business and Information Technology; Criminal Justice and Education; College of Education; Engineering and Architecture; and,
Marine Academy. The institution also has a
Graduate School department with degree courses in Management and Education. Under the basic education department, Senior High School (SHS) students can choose among the
ABM, GAS, HUMSS, and
STEM strands.
