Saint Peter's College of Ormoc (SPC) is known to be the oldest Catholic school in Leyte. It started 1914 as the Colegio Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. The school was founded by Fr. Ismael Cataag and was run by the Sisters of Compania de Jesus. In 1926, it was renamed to St. Peter's Institution. Then, when the school opened college courses in 1966, it was renamed to St. Peter's College of Ormoc.
SPC currently provides both basic and higher education programs. It has a Senior High School (SHS) department offering the Academic Track. For college students, the school has degree courses in Elementary and Secondary Education, Accountancy, and Business Administration. Additionally, a Teacher Certificate Program is available for non-education graduates who wish to take the Licensure Examination for Teachers.
For more than a century, this Saint Peter's College of Ormoc has stood its ground as a learning institution despite tragic events that occurred in the past. As one of the oldest colleges in Visayas, SPC created a mass of students that became significant contributors in our society.
