Santa Isabel College (SIC) is a private, Roman Catholic educational institution located in the city of Manila. Situated in Ermita district, the college’s origins can be traced back to the Spanish colonial period. It first operated as a charitable institution named as Hermanidad de la Santa Misericordia in 1594 which accommodated orphans and sick people.

By the year 1632, it became Colegio de Santa Isabel which was first located in Intramuros, Manila, was established to provide education for Spanish orphans. In 1738, it started accepting Filipino girls and five years later, King Philip V ordered in a Royal Decree to call the school Real Colegio de Santa Isabel.

The Second World War caused major damage to the school building and in 1946, its location was transferred to Taft Avenue, Manila. By 1947, the educational institution’s name was changed into Santa Isabel College and as the years went by, the school formerly exclusive for girls began accommodating male students.
