The Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) is founded on the premise that understanding the needs of the people in their environment is the basis for successful food and lodging service. The Hotel and Restaurant Management curriculum combines in-depth courses in food, foodservice systems, hotel operations and human resource management with courses in business administration, communications, quantitative studies, humanities, and biological and physical sciences to provide a strong base for professional success.
Every effort is made to prepare students for professional careers in today's service-oriented and information-based society. The importance of quality service is emphasized because customer needs and expectations must be the central focus of innovative hotel/restaurant management. The program is meant to prepare students for professional careers in hospitality management by providing theory-based instruction and practical experience.
