Southern Philippines College (SPC) is a private school in
Cagayan de Oro City. Plans for the school started on August 1981; the founders wanted to turn the properties of Don Benito R. Garcia and Dona Raymunda Yabut Garcia into an educational institution that would develop the youth into global professionals. The school was formally established as the
Southern Philippines Academy on October 1981.
At present, SPC provides programs from the preschool level to the graduate level. Its basic education department has a Senior High School (SHS) unit with selected strands under the
Academic and the
Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) tracks. For college students, the institution has various bachelor's degree courses offered in five college units:
Education, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Criminology, Information Technology, and
Business Administration and Entrepreneurship. In addition to undergraduate programs, SPC also has a
Graduate Studies program, a TESDA course in
Caregiving, and a
Certificate of Professional Teaching program.
