What does St. Michael's College stand for?

St. Michael's College (SMC) of Iligan City, is a private Catholic institution of higher learning in Lanao del Norte. It started as a small school in 1914, offering English and Spanish classes for Grade 1 and Grade 2 male students. In 1915, sisters of the Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM) started to help in managing the school. That same year the school was officially called Escuela de San Miguel, and it also opened classes for girls. High school classes became available after World War II. In 1949, the school, then renamed St. Michael's Academy, was fully managed by the RVM sisters. Only three years later, the academy began offering undergraduate courses, obtaining its college status.

SMC caters students from the preschool to the graduate level. It provides a wide array of programs, most of have accreditation from PAASCU. Courses related to Education, Criminology, Business, Engineering, Computer Studies, Hospitality Management, Liberal Arts, and Nursing are open to students who want to earn their degrees. ABM, STEM, HUMSS, and GAS from the Academic track are also available for Senior High School students.

St. Michael's College and its programs are recognized by DepEd and CHED. It is also a member of the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP). As both an academic and a Catholic institution, SMC is dedicated to forming students who, through their Ignacian-Marian values, practice their professions to solve issues in the community, especially to help the poor.
