Stella Maris College (SMC) is a private school in Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental. It was founded as the
Holy Rosary Parochial School in 1930 by the parish priest of Oroquieta, Fr. Henry Irwin, S.J. The school was initially situated in the rectory basement and offered co-educational classes in grades one and two. In 1937, the administration was turned over to the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary. After the Second World War, the school opened its High School department, and about 18 years later, the college department also opened with courses in Liberal Arts and Teacher Education. It was in 1966 when the
Holy Rosary School was renamed to Stella Maris College.
At present, the college offers undergraduate programs in
Elementary and Secondary Education, Business Administration, Accountancy, and
English Language. SMC also has a Senior High School (SHS) department providing the
Academic Track, particularly the
ABM, GAS, HUMSS, and
STEM strands. Also available are
tech-voc courses, namely Baking/Pastry Production, Commercial Cooking, and Computer Hardware Servicing, all which lead to a
National Certificate (NC).
