STI College is a system of schools known for providing IT- and business-related programs in the Philippines. STI—
Systems Technology Institute as it was called back then—was founded by four entrepreneurs,
Augusto C. Lagman,
Herman T. Gamboa,
Benjamin A. Santos, and
Edgar H. Sarte, who wanted to give Filipinos training in basic programming. The institution was known for training students for the workforce; it had a G
uaranteed Hire Program (GHP) that ensures graduates jobs from either one of the founders' companies or from contact companies of the school. STI started out in 1983 with one branch in Makati and another in Manila; now, the system has grown into having
more than 100 campuses nationwide.
STI College Laoag currently provides two- to four-year courses in
Computer Science and in
Hospitality Management. The campus also has a Senior High School (SHS) program, with particular curricula in the
ABM, ICT, and
HE strands. The college and its programs are duly recognized by the Commission on Higher Education
(CHED) and the Department of Education
(DepEd).
