Universidad de Zamboanga (UZ) is a private, non-sectarian institution founded in 1948 by Arturo Francisco Eustaquio as Zamboanga Arturo Eustaquio Colleges (ZAEC). It offered secondary and college courses in education, liberal arts, and commerce.
Since its establishment, the college expanded and added new courses. It received its university status in 2005 changing its name to Universidad de Zamboanga. It has campuses located in Ipil and Pagadian while it offers high school education through Universidad de Zamboanga Technical High School. Today, UZ has a wide array of programs for the students. Its college department is divided into 6 schools and institute namely: Allied Medicine, Education, Art and Sciences, Business Management, Technical Education, Criminal Justice, and Engineering, Information and Communication Technology.
Throughout the years, UZ has received various accolades from different organizations. UZ's School of Allied Medicine has made legacy, producing 28 board topnotchers (3 First placers, 1 Second Placer, 3 Third Placers, 3 Fifth Placers, 2 Sixth Placers, 4 Seventh Placers, 5 Eighth Placers, 4 Ninth Placers, and 3 Tenth Placers) in the X-Ray and Radiologic Technology, Medical Technology, Respiratory Therapy, and Nursing Licensure Examinations since 2009.
