What does University of Southeastern Philippines stand for?

University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) is a regional state university in Davao. It was established in 1978 through Batas Pambansa Blg. 12, bringing together four Davao region higher education institutions: Mindanao State University - Davao Branch (MSUDB), the University of the Philippines - Master of Management Program in Davao (UPMMPD), the Davao School of Arts and Trades (DSAT), and the Davao National Regional Agricultural School (DNRAS). In its first years, USeP offered courses in engineering, forestry, agriculture, and humanities. As it developed over the years, the institution began to expand its curriculum. It was able to establish linkages with various local and international organizations such as World Bank, Philippines-Australia Basic Education Assistance for Mindanao, Southeast Asian Ministries of Education Organization, Regional Center for Vocational and Technical Education and Training in Brunei Darussalam (SEAMEO VOCTECH), and Philippines-Australia Human Resource Development Facility.

To date, the university is composed of four campuses in Obrero, Mintal, Tagum-Mabini, and Bislig, all of which are located in Mindanao. The main campus in Obrero currently offers undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate degree programs under its seven departments: the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Education, College of Engineering, Insitute of Computing, College of Business Administration, School of Applied Economics, and College of Technology. The university also has an external studies program and an expanded tertiary education equivalent program.

Guided by its mission and vision of providing relevant and research-based education, some of its undergraduate and graduate programs have earned Level I and Level II accreditation statuses from the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Additionally, the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) awarded the Center of Development recognition to USeP in the fields of Electrical Engineering (EE), and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). USeP is also the home of Mindanao Center for Policy Studies (MCPS) and Southern Mindanao Agriculture and Resources Research and Development Consortium (SMARRDEC)
