What does University of Southern Philippines Foundation stand for?

The University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) is a private, non-sectarian higher educational institution in Cebu City. It was founded in 1927 as the Southern Institute, initially offering elementary and high school programs. In 1933, the school started to offer college programs in Education, Law, Engineering, Commerce, and Arts and Sciences; and, by 1949, it was elevated to university status with the opening of its Graduate School. USPF currently has campuses in Lahug and Mabini.

At present, the university caters undergraduate and graduate courses in the fields of Teacher Education, Medical and Healthcare, Music, Social Science, Business and Management, Engineering, Architecture, Computer Studies, and Law. USPF also has a DepEd-recognized Senior High School (SHS) program that provides interested students with selected strands from the Academic and Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) tracks. Additionally, the school has a Learning Resource Center which serves as an assessment center for TVET courses offered by TESDA.

Several undergraduate programs of USPF currently hold Level II PACUCOA accreditations, namely Information Technology, Computer Science, Elementary Education, and Liberal Arts. The university's elementary and high school programs also hold the same accreditation from the organization.

In June 2019, the Graduate School department introduced Blended Learning, which was a result of the university's enhancement of its technological capacity. This strategy lets students learn through a combination of face-to-face and digital instruction, providing them opportunities for intellectual exchanges involving both local and global issues.
