Urdaneta City University (UCU) is a public university founded in 1966 by Dr. Pedro T. Orata with the aim of providing basic to higher education in one place for the students of Urdaneta City. Together with the then mayor, Amadeo R. Perez Jr., the founders used the proceeds of the town fiesta to establish its first 2-year General Education course using the facilities of the Urdaneta City National High School.
At present, the university offers courses in Accountancy and Business Administration, Arts and Languages, Computer Studies, Criminology, Education, Nursing, Pharmacy, Engineering and Architecture, Science and Mathematics, Social Works, Law, Midwifery and Caregiving, and Hotel and Restaurant Services and Tourism Management. It also has a graduate school and center for continuing and professional development.
