Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology (ZSCMST) is a public educational institution in Fort Pilar Shrine, Zamboanga City. The state college started out as a campus of the Philippine Institute of Fisheries Technology (PIFT) in 1956. Through the
R.A. No. 3434 in 1961, it became the
Mindanao Regional School of Fisheries (MRSF). Then, through the
Presidential Decree No. 2020 in 1986, MRSF turned into a state college as the Zamboanga State College of Marine Sciences and Technology.
Currently, ZSCMST offers a variety of tertiary programs under three college units:
Fisheries and Food Sciences, Maritime Technology, and Education and Liberal Arts. These academic units offer not only bachelor's degree courses but also
diploma, certificate, and graduate courses. For those who are interested in learning certain skills and in earning a
National Certificate (NC) in only less than a year,
TESDA courses are also provided by the school. Additionally, ZSCMST has a Senior High School department with available
Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) strands.
