What are the requirements of studying at a school in France?

Generally, schools in France will ask for your:

  • Application form (hard copy)

  • Education credentials

  • Copy of passport with visa

  • Birth certificate

  • Financial statements

  • Proof of English proficiency

  • Essay (for some colleges)

The French government’s policy that aims to welcome and support more foreign students simplifies the process of acquiring visas by giving priority to all applying students, both locally and internationally. Do I need a visa? How do I get it?

If you are a Philippine passport holder, you will need a student visa to study in France.

The process involves:

  1. Completing the online application form

  2. Gathering all required documents

  3. Sending your official form to the French Office of Immigration and Integration (OFII) upon your arrival in France

How much is the cost of living in France?

Living costs in France vary depending on the location and your lifestyle. For large and densely populated cities like Paris, average monthly costs would span from 1,000 to 1,200 euros per month. On the other hand, smaller cities like Nice would cost you 700-900 euros monthly, while other towns such as Lyon and Bordeaux would cost an average of 600-800 euros.

All international students have the right to work while studying in the country for a maximum of 964 hours per year. France’s national minimum hourly wage is currently at 9.67 euros. Generally, international students are allowed to work on-campus under a contract – be sure to ask your designated school representative for work options available. Working off-campus may be restricted, depending on your visa.
