Andong National University is a public higher education institution in Andong City, North Gyeongsang province, South Korea. The university was founded in 1947 as the Andong Normal School. Throughout the years, Andong had several changes in its name until it became Andong National College in 1979. Andong National College continued adding more programs and in 1991, the school finally received its university status.
At present, Andong National University caters to a number of programs in various fields. It has 7 colleges (Humanities, Social Science, Education, Natural Science, Life Sciences and Biotechnology, Engineering, and Creative Convergence). These seven colleges serve as home to 31 departments.
Andong National University has recently launched its 2020 ANU Project. This project aims to renew the university's academic focus by the year 2020. The task includes strengthening the educational infrastructure of ANU, reinforcement of job-finding support for the students, university culture innovation, strengthening the research support system, improvement of the university operation system, expansive securing of university finance, and strengthening the external network of the university.
